EuroMeDiag, a new dynamic for medical diagnosis and a key initiative for the health competitive cluster Eurobiomed

An ambition

Euromediag is a working group of the French health competitive cluster Eurobiomed that concentrates on matters relating to medical diagnostic, research and innovation to boost and develop the emergence of collaborative R&D, to ease the creation of new jobs, of new investments and technical platforms, to help the companies' development, and to promote the regional medical diagnosis industry.

This active group gathers academics, industrials, local authorities and institutions from both Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur counties (South of France).

Euromediag intends to gather all the stakeholders associated to medical diagnosis within the French Mediterranean area in order to create the best conditions to improve their visibility abroad. This ambition is related to the fact that the density, the diversity and the dynamism of the field of medical diagnosis of the French Mediterranean area is unique in Europe. Thus, Euromediag objective is to become a European cluster of excellence in medical diagnosis, including expertise in academic, clinical and industrial research, training, technology transfer and services, and to become an internationally recognized "Diagnostic Bay"!

A pool of actions

By gathering all the actors involved in the medical diagnosis industry, Euromediag intends to stimulate synergies between various competences as well as generate an intellectual and financial tropism. In order to achieve these objectives, the working group has identified several priority actions:

• - Stimulate coordination and international partnering,
• - Perform strategic analysis of its field and of its competitiveness,
• - Improve its visibility nationally and internationally,
• - Contribute to the creation of new training (at both the university and professional levels),
• - Develop collaborative projects.

Since its creation in 2009, Euromediag has already reinforced the field of medical diagnosis in its territory via specific actions. For instance: prioritization of its thematic within the health competitive cluster Eurobiomed, participation at the "BIOTIN" master degree, involvement with the organization that manages regional biological resources centers ("fédération régionale des Centres de Ressources Biologiques"), organization of a day-long conference on medical diagnostic ("Bio-Connexion" event).

An international presence

Euromediag has already permitted several strategic collaborations (collaborative projects between different partners) and is eager to facilitate the development of future national or international projects. For instance, Eurobiomed has already entered into collaboration with the Belgium competitive cluster BioWin. This collaboration intends to reinforce the research capacity and innovative potential of both clusters. Others exchanges with certain European bioclusters are currently in discussion.

This international presence intends to reach Euromediag goal to become the European cluster of excellence in medical diagnosis.
