EIC Transition

Project Type
EIC Transition supports projects that have moved beyond experimental proof-of-concept and aim to demonstrate viable technology applications within their intended field. Eligible applications must have completed all elements of Technology Readiness Level 3 and aim to achieve TRL 5 or 6 by the project's conclusion.
Projects must address both technological maturation and business/entrepreneurial development in a balanced manner. Expected outcomes include:
- A demonstrated, mature, and effective technology for its intended application.
- A validated business model and a developed business plan for commercialization.
ELIGIBLE ENTITIES
- Single Applicants (Mono-beneficiary): Start-ups, SMEs, or research organizations (universities, research or technological bodies). Large enterprises (non-SMEs) are not eligible to apply as a single entity.
- Small Consortia (two entities): Two independent legal entities from two different Member States or Associated Countries.
- Consortia (three to five entities): A minimum of three and a maximum of five independent legal entities. At least one entity must be established in a Member State, with the others established in different Member States or Associated Countries.
FUNDING
- 100% grant for projects ranging from €0.5 M to €2.5 M. A larger sum may be requested if duly justified.
- Booster Grants of €50,000 may be awarded for ongoing projects to further enhance their market readiness and technological maturity.
Characteristics of Supported Projects
An eligible project must:
- Be based on results obtained through previous European grants (e.g., EU Pathfinder, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, EDF).
- Hold the intellectual property rights for the results on which the project is based.
- Have conducted a preliminary market study to identify potential markets and competitors.
- Be led by a motivated and entrepreneurial team with diverse skills (e.g., researchers, business professionals, marketing experts).
Additional Benefits: A Seal of Excellence will be awarded to the coordinators of all proposals that met the evaluation thresholds but were not funded due to insufficient available budget.
