SUMMARY:Health From Space – 3rd edition
DESCRIPTION:Where do we stand on quality of life? \nWorldwide\, several thousand diseases affect humans\, of which only about five hundred have any treatment. More than seven hundred million people suffer from malnutrition. Health care for aging people and related diseases concern more than one billion people. And more such issues are at stake. \nWith you and our partners\, our vision and our values\, we have the ambition to create\, with the ‘Health from Space’ conference\, a platform for the accelerated discoveries of therapies and advances in quality of life\, for individuals as well as humankind globally. \nIndeed\, the life sciences\, health\, and related biomaterial domains are on the verge of a disruptive evolution\, actually a revolution\, thanks to the possibility of establishing and operating facilities in the environment of space. \nOddly enough\, most of the actors in these domains are unaware of these coming dramatic changes. It will happen that\, even though the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries can be considered fully mature—with turnovers each of more than one trillion per year and hundreds of millions of dollars in research and development annually—the new environment offered by space is poised to dramatically impact those numbers positively. \nThe potential scientific\, technological\, and commercial benefits of microgravity research\, development\, and manufacturing in space are considerable.
