Mayoura Keophiphath (DIVA Expertise) and Elodie Gras Lavigne (Neuron Experts): « Trust and shared values are at the heart of our collaboration »

October 6, 2025

From Marseille to Toulouse, via San Diego, the leaders of DIVA Expertise and Neuron Experts, two Eurobiomed member companies, reflect on their recent innovative partnership in the development of cellular and tissue models.

Why a collaboration between two CROs with distinct expertise?
Mayoura Keophiphath: Our partnership unites two CROs of equivalent size that share the same values, particularly regarding the reduction of animal experimentation. We operate in common markets – dermo-cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals – while maintaining complementary expertise. DIVA Expertise contributes its expertise in adipose tissue, while Neuron Experts specializes in neuronal models. This complementarity allows us to envision a lasting and mutually beneficial collaboration.

How was this relationship established?
Elodie Gras Lavigne: The San Diego Chamber of Commerce (*) played a decisive role by initially connecting us. The decisive meeting then took place at BIO San Diego 2024, where we were part of the Eurobiomed delegation. Sharing a common booth and participating in organized events facilitated our discussions and quickly enabled us to identify the potential for a partnership, which materialized with the signing of a research collaboration agreement.

What are the initial results of this partnership?
Mayoura Keophiphath: We have already achieved encouraging results with the development of a viable co-culture model between adipose cells and neurons, named FatSmart®, presented at the ESDR 2025 congress in Antwerp. Our objective is to develop innovative cellular and tissue models for active compound screening, by replicating the natural interactions between adipose tissue and neurons within the skin. These models will enhance the biological relevance of preclinical tests.

What role did Eurobiomed play in this partnership?
Elodie Gras Lavigne: This collaboration between our two companies perfectly illustrates Eurobiomed's capacity to connect health stakeholders across its bi-regional territory. Although DIVA Expertise is based in Toulouse and Neuron Experts in Marseille, we quickly found common ground and synergies, notably thanks to the cluster's support. Our story demonstrates that geographical distance is not an impediment when a shared vision exists and an effective structure provides support.

(*) The ties between Eurobiomed and San Diego were further strengthened with the signing on September 26 of a new partnership agreement between Eurobiomed and Biocom California, the leading Californian health cluster, represented in Marseille by their VP San Diego.
